A/N: Okay, here's another poem. I can't remember if it's free verse or prose that describes poems in paragraphs. I guess I should've paid more attention in Comp II. ^_^
Burning
I've been burning for most of my life. I've burned with rage in my heart after my mother was killed and my home destroyed. I've felt the physical agony of swords through my chest, needles through my skin, and bullet wounds in various places. I've felt the cruel burn of loss, as I watched my best friend die in my arms and a woman I cherished as a sister slain by my mortal enemy. These feelings are the dark flames in my soul.
But, one flame burns brighter than all the rest: my love for her. It is she that calms the rage and soothes the wounds. It is she that fills the voids left in my heart. It is my love for her that will burn forever.
Love it? Hate it? Let me know.
And let me know if this is prose or free verse. I feel like a dork for not knowing. ^_^
