Jay had watched as the attack was announced some reds were fighting for freedom. He chuckled bitterly their right are they not? We have practically enslaved them. We force them to work,die and fight for us. We had this coming.
Jay was walking down the street when two girls were on the street he quickly caught up the them and caught the butt of the rifle. Jay asked"officer what happened?" The officer told jay that he caught the girl trying to pickpocket him. Jay looked at the girl. Obviously a red What with the fiery red hair. He looked to the other girl. She was older and while she was obviously the other girls sister she looked different and familiar, too familiar. With long brown hair instead of red. Jay asked the little girl"and you sweetheart what happened?" She said"the officer was right." Jay said"hmm alright here because in all this chaos it's easy to forget the law I'll let you go." The officer was about to say something but jay quickly glared silencing him. Jay said"well young ladies let me escort you home." He helped the two to their feet. He led the two to the gate. The man opened it and he led the girls back to the stilts. He said"oh I'm prince Jamie by the way but call me jay please." The older brunette said"I'm mare barrow this is my sister gisa." Jay stopped he asked hesitantly"you aren't related to an Anna borrow by chance are you." The girl asked "how do you know of my older sister?" Jay said"oh no I heard the name somewhere that's it." The two walked in silence back to the barrow house. Jay as they stopped at the door mare and gisa's mother opened the door. She said"oh I'm so glad your here you two and...prince Jamie." She goes to bow but jay snapped"don't." He then said considerably softer"don't please bowing is irritating to me." She said"why if I may ask my prince?" Jay replied"because it means I'm better than you all just because of how I was born, if I'm to be better than anybody it's through my hard work not birth." said"hmm an interesting inquiry your highness." Jay said"um do you have an extra bed room I could stay in because I had a...disagreement with the queen and I'd rather not talk to her tonight,I can pay for the room if you have need of it." The woman looked shocked but said"we do that is if you don't mind having my eldest daughters old room." Jay asked"your daughters old room, are you sure ." She said"of course your highness." Jay said"please it's just jay not your highness or my prince or anything like that it's annoying." She said"of course your highne-jay." Jay smiled appreciatively at the woman. She led him up stairs into an old room. Opening the door he smelled cinnamon, fresh apples,cherry's and strawberries. He accidentally said"wow it even smells like Anna." asked"wait you knew my eldest daughter." Jay bitterly said"yes I did but my mother didn't exactly approve of our relationship." asked"so you were Anna's mysterious boyfriend." Jay solemnly nodded he pulled out a bag of coins and handed it to saying"for the trouble of housing me tonight." The woman said"I couldn't possibly accept this." Jay said"no I insist I'm rich after all so I have no need for it." She graciously accepted the coins saying"this-this is enough to feed us for a year or two and get mere out of conscription." Jay said"I actually can help there I could get Anna a job at the palace while you keep the conscription money to help others out." Mare said"wait this means I could get kilorn out of conscription." Jay said"yeah go ahead." Jay gave mare the conscription money and she took off. asked"why would you help us out this much,just some lowly reds?" Jay said"because I loved Anna she was the reason I woke up In the mornings, honestly she was the reason I breathed at all and she was your daughter so at least I can sort of repay what I've done." nodded and went back to her room to sleep jay laid on Anna's bed. And gently breathed just to be able to smell her again. He missed her he still hated his mother elara for what she had done. The door creaked open jay looked up and saw mare who walked in saying"I come in here to think sometimes there's something about." Jay finished for her"the smell that just calms you." Mare said"exactly." The two sat in silence for a few minutes till mare yawned jay said"come on the beds big enough for two we can share for a while trust me." Mare without a fight either because she was to tired or she just didn't care quickly laid down on the bed. She fell asleep In minutes. Her unconscious body curled against jay's for warmth. Jay chuckled he didn't know why he felt so at peace for once in a long time. Maybe it was because mare looked so much like Anna he really couldn't tell. Jay decided it would be a better idea to sleep. So his vision faded and he slipped into the realm of unconsciousness...
