Dani Reese had a headache.

It was a sharp headache that was brought about by a piecing noise that seemed to start and stop every few minutes. And to make it worse she was at one of the fanciest restaurants in Los Angeles. She didn't want to be there, but Charlie had insisted upon taking her to celebrate the fact that their partnership had made it to three years. Dani had tried everything possible to get out of the dinner. She had lied, she had begged, she had even told Charlie the truth, that she didn't want to go and that she had nothing to wear. Charlie had told her that she had to go and then bought her a new dress so that she had something to wear.

So Dani was stuck, wearing a gorgeous dress, in the most expensive restaurant in the city, with a mysterious noise giving her a horrible headache. The noise started up again, and Dani was about to get down on her knees and beg Charlie to let her go when she noticed a teenage boy pull out his cellphone and flip it open. Suddenly the noise stopped. Reese suddenly remembered something she had read about mosquito ringtones, noises only heard by teens, and certain adults. Just my luck she thought I happen to be one of those adults.

Dani watched the boy. He was with his mother, his father and his grandmother. Both of the women at the table were wearing crucifixes. The boy acted as though he were paying attention to what his grandmother was saying, but Dani could see his fingers typing away at his cell phone. He must be texting someone, and when they text back that stupid ring tone goes off! As the boy pocketed his cellphone Dani got a good look at what type of phone it was. And that was when Dani got an idea, and awful idea. Dani Reese got a horribly awful idea.

She waited until the cellphone went off again, and when it did Dani went storming over to the teen's table, badge in hand.

"LAPD!" she barked at the boy, shoving her badge in his face. "Give me your cell phone"

"What is this about?" asked the boys mother, "Has my son done something wrong?"

"No mam, I just need his phone." The boy handed his phone over to Dani and she quickly selected what she wanted. She returned his phone to him and then hurried back to her table.

"What was that about?" Crews asked.

"You'll see" was all she said. About a minute later Charlie did see, in fact he almost choked on his food when "Hava nagila" started playing from the teen's table loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. Dani patted Charlie's back and smiled as she watched the boy's mother and grandmother begin to yell at the teen. Dani smiled because she took pleasure in the boy's suffering but she smiled for another reason too.

She didn't have a headache anymore.

Ok for those of you who didn't understand the boy's family is Catholic, or of some Christian faith while the song "Hava Nagila" is a Jewish song. I know that wasn't one of my best pieces but the idea's been running around my head for a while so I figured I get it out now and then I could make changes to it later! My other "Life" stories should be updated soon for those who were wondering.
