While waiting for the light to change one busy NYC morning, Clary checked her cell phone to see if she missed any calls. There were many texts from Jace. They all said 'Call Me.' Clary smiled, just seeing his name over and over made her happy. But her happiness was shadowed by her fear of Jace finding out her secret. They had become close friends and officially started dating. The trials and tribulations of battling Valentine were laid to rest. They had the rest of their lives to look forward to, except, a small problem that gnawed at the back of Clary's mind. She couldn't find a way to even open the subject with Jace. She didn't want to waste the energy to deal with it.
How could she ever expect Jace to come clean about his nightmares and worries, if she was not willing to with him. She was in such deep thought, she missed the light to cross the street. As she waited for the light to turn again she looked across the street and saw Jace leaning against a building as if he was holding it up. He was watching her with blatant desire in his eyes. His stare beckoned her to cross toward him. In almost a dream state, Clary stepped off the curb to cross without looking at the oncoming traffic. Luckily the light had just changed, so she meandered across to the other side and then stopped a few feet away from Jace. They just stared at each other through the passing people. Clary's could feel her pulse speeding up as she lifted her cell phone to make a call. She hit her speed dial #1 and waited. Jace's phone started to ring a few seconds later. He pulled it out of his pocket and looked at who the call was from. Then he open his phone and put it up to his head.
"Hello?" said Jace.
"Hey there." said Clary.
"'Bout time you called me back." said Jace with a trace of a smile on his face.
"I am getting back to you now." said Clary.
"Well, I really can't talk right now. There is this girl in front of me that I can't take my eyes off of." said Jace.
"Oh, yeah, well I'm not jealous. I have my own hottie giving me the eye." answered Clary.
"So, I'll talk with you later, alright?" asked Jace.
"later, much." said Clary as she turned off her phone and walked seductively up to her love.
"Wish I had a demon bike to fly us out of here." said Jace. He had the look of a predator.
"Mmm." said Clary as she stood right in front of Jace, her whole body lined up with his. Their lips almost touching. "Or maybe some magic pixie dust like from Tinker belle. That would let us fly." teased Clary.
"No, better walk then. You have no idea how quickly fairy magic can turn bad." said Jace with a wink.
He said "Tink, ha." under his breath. Then a wider smile came across his face.
They turned together and started to walk hand in hand.
