Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognize. The song is Man of La Mancha. I don't own Harry Potter either. He belongs to the imagination of J.K. Rowling and the property of Warner Bros.
A/N – Check out Linda Eder singing Man of La Mancha. It's really inspiring.
He stood on the astronomy tower, looking out over Hogwarts' grounds. Why was he left with the responsibility of cleaning up the wizarding world? Why had he been chosen to eradicate the stains left by Voldemort?
Hear me now oh thou bleak and unbearable world
Thou art base and debauched as can be
He knew he was revered as the Saviour of the Light, as the Destroyer of Evil, and preserver of good. He had been placed on a pedestal and elevated above the common man by the people themselves, in honor of his valor.
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee!
He was Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived. Ever since he had entered Hogwarts at the tender age of eleven, he had been groomed and prepared to fulfill his destiny.
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
Destroyer of evil am I
He knew the rhetoric of the prophecy the foretold his death unless he was able to subdue and destroy Voldemort. But he was ready. He understood that his role was one that only he could fill, and he was determined to do his best.
I will march to the sound of the trumpets of glory
Forever to conquer or die
Now, in his seventh year, the Death Eaters and others ran rampant through the country, unchecked by all. There had even been rumors of their influence spreading to the continent, a move that would surely destroy modern wizarding society.
Hear me heathens and wizards and serpents of sin
All your dastardly doings are past
He knew what was expected of him. He knew many would follow him in battle, and he hoped to lead them to victory.
For a holy endeavor is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last!
It was inevitable. He could only run for so long to escape his fate. The prophecy had been explicit: "One must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives."
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
My destiny calls and I go
The future seemed bleak, but Harry could only hope for the best. He had a lot to live up to, people's expectations, his own expectations, and very little was under his control.
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
Oh with us so ever they blow
He hoped that Luck would be a lady in the next few years, at least to him. He wanted to save the wizarding world, but could only do so with outside intervention.
With us so ever they blow
Onward to Glory I go!
Two years later he stood on the Astronomy Tower once more. Voldemory had been defeated, and the world found peace and safety once more. Harry had managed to fulfill his destiny and come out living. He had been elevated to a pedestal at the level of Merlin himself. Life was looking up.
A/N – Please review! It's nothing complicated. Just tell me what you think. If you liked it, if you hated it, anything.
