Chapter One
A flash of lightning lit up the midnight-black sky. Rain fell in thick, black sheets against the frothy mud. The only light other than the rain dimmed lamps were two yellow eyes. Blood trickled from the fangs of the owner of the yellow eyes. Lightning flashed and briefly showed the silhouette of the creature, a dragon.
There it laid, body curled like a cobra, ready to strike. Its black arms carried a limp figure, clearly a teenage girl. Lightning lit up the sky, thunder clapped loudly, and the dragon roared, purple flames pouring from its mouth like water from a cup. Steam rose where the rain hit the flame.
His eyes flew open, beads of sweat on his face. A boy with abnormally unruly hair and emerald green eyes pulled on his round rimmed glasses. "Wake up! Come on you lazy thing!" Aunt Petunia's voice shrieked through the banging on the door.
Harry swung his legs over the edge of his bed. He looked over at his packed trunk and Hedwig dozing on her perch in her cage. He tried to comb his hair, but gave up within two minutes. He pulled on a shirt and jeans. Dudley banged on his door with his fat fist. "Hurry up, you! We want to get rid of you already!" He bellowed.
Harry dragged his trunk down the stairs, Hedwig hooting with surprise on each bump. He entered the suspiciously sparkling kitchen. He sat down, eyeing each person at the table. Uncle Vernon's small head was shoved in to the newspaper; Aunt Petunia scrubbed the already clean counter vigorously; and Dudley wolfing down his apple, and stole Harry's.
