So, this is just something I thought of when I got finished watching the latest episode of AoT. It kind of reminded me of the legend of Icarus, hence the quote in the summary.

Enjoy!

It has been an interesting ride. First, you struggled to become sentient; to break free of your crude existence was all you asked. Then, I allowed the freedom of fire, just to help you along. It was only fair, since all other creatures had gotten the same push. After this gift, you began to acknowledge me, if only a little.

Then you excelled and built the wheel, along with better houses and tools and weapons to fend off my other beautiful creatures of the Earth. I accepted it. It was your nature, and you had a right to protect yourselves. I watched with interest as you all continued to multiply and expand your knowledge and curiosity of the wonders around you. It was a gorgeous sight. Hardships came, yes, but you were the first creations of mine to withstand them to such degree that you learned to excel in them. Yes, you were, in fact, my greatest inventions.

As your intelligence grew, you formed different groups and beliefs, and some contradicted others. This caused conflicts, and many casualties occurred as the result. I knew you would all need to learn a lesson on your own terms, so I let it slide.

In my observation, I began to realize just how much more growing you had done. Your intelligence far exceeded my expectations, and I was delighted to see you all pushing for the limits of your world, reaching for the stars. I knew you would never reach them, so I allowed you to compete with each other to achieve all goals that were set before you. After all, an existence should never be content with the status quo until it has reached it's limits.

However, it soon became quite clear that you had no intention of stopping your race to become the greatest of all creations. Your sciences reached corruption, your communications ended in conflicts. Your inventions were attempting to reach far beyond your level. This kind of advancement would only end in failure and injury for the rest of your days.

You really had me worried for a moment there.

You thought you could play my part, huh? Well, I hate to break it to you, but I am the only one who can stay at the top of the food chain forever. I'm sorry to say that your time has come to become the prey. The Titans can be beaten, but only after they have put you in your place. Do not forget who you are. Do not forget what you are, humans.
