Just One Look
It was the middle of the night and not for the first time and certainly not the last Mara found herself rocking a crying Ben back to sleep. As she calmed him she let her mind wander.
Sometimes she wondered if she was going to be a proper mother to this blue-eyed, blonde haired little baby boy. Both she and Luke often found themselves being called away, especially during the Yuuzhan Vong War.
Would they be there for him? Would he have to grow up missing his parents all the time? Would they survive this constant cycle of him waking up crying before being put back to sleep only to have him wake up again? Mara sighed. Parenthood was just as hard, maybe harder than anything else she'd ever done in her life.
Finally Ben stopped crying and started to drift into the land of dreams and a smile began to form on Mara lips, because when she took just one look into his pretty blue eyes, all her doubts faded away.
