A/N: This is for Bad Mum on the Drabble Request Thread. My prompts were letters, a sandwich and bookcases. I changed letters to notes, but otherwise stayed true. R&R, please. :)
Remus Lupin was hiding in the library at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place. Tonks had been badgering him about taking care of Teddy and he just wanted to be free from her nagging for a short while. Behind the rows of bookcases and towers of books was a hidden cove. It had a small fireplace, a window seat and a few rickety tables.
He sat in his cove with one of his favorite, worn novels. He was having trouble concentrating on the words so he set the novel down. He looked at the tables surrounding him when something caught his eye. He moved from the window seat and pulled a leaf of parchment from a stack of books. He untied the string that held the parchment together and unrolled it. What he found brought tears to his eyes; they were notes Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus wrote to each other during their school years. He sat there, reading through their innocent discussion, for what seemed like hours. He was freely crying, not even bothering to wipe his tears away.
He remembered all their old pranks, detentions, harassing Severus and he missed it all. He missed his friends, the people who didn't care if he was a werewolf or not. He went back to the time where he was happy and free, before the wars. He rolled up the parchment and stuck it in his pocket. He then leaned against the window and looked out into the starry night.
He sat there in his memories until he heard "Daddy! I got you a sandwich. Mum made peanut butter and jelly!" Teddy yelled ecstatically in his five years of youth.
"You want to share?" Remus asked his son with a smile crinkling his face. Teddy nodded enthusiastically before hopping into Remus' lap. They sat there, sharing the sandwich and joking with each other. Teddy fell asleep in Remus' lap and Remus carried him to his bedroom, tucking him in. He kissed his forehead before going to bed. Before falling asleep, Remus said a silent prayer to his old friends and fell asleep with a rare smile on his face.
