After the repeal of DADT, Rodney and John set the example by coming forward as a couple. Several other couples followed their example, but Rodney could tell John wanted more every time he looked at Torren with his parents.
Rodney had offered to find someone to surrogate, but John said he wasn't interested in surrogacy or adoption. So Rodney went looking for other options to give John the family he obviously wanted. In the end, the Ancients had only been focused on ascension. They probably avoided any and everything to do with their physical bodies, including procreation. Rodney just had to find the evidence.
Then one day Radek of all people hit the wrong button on the search Rodney had started almost a month before. Rodney started yelling and turned to fix the search Radek had carelessly disrupted.
"Rodney?" Radek asked after Rodney stopped his rant mid-word to stare open-mouthed at the screen. Rodney didn't say a word as he grabbed his tablet and ran out of the room to search for John.
