Today was the day, the day I was going to tell Up the truth.
I sent him a message earlier today asking him to meet me in the gardens of the base. I spent the morning deciding how to tell him. Should I just come straight out with it? Should I drop hints then tell him? Or should I just not tell him at all? Yep, I like last one.
I stood up and turned to walk back to my room but i bumped into him on the way. I nearly tripped but his strong arms closed around me, stopping me from falling or moving.
"Watch it there Taz," his southern drawl come, "Ya nearly fell over." He finished, standing me up straight.
"Yeah, I noticed, idiota" I spat back. Damn it! Why did I always retaliate in such a rude way? I wouldn't have cared if it was anyone else, but this was Up. The only person that meant something to me.
"So, what did ya want to see me about?" He asked, leading me towards a bench the out-looked the small stream running through the grounds.
"Um..." I stuttered, "I... ah..." Why couldn't I find the words? "Up, I... ah, um" Eah! Why was this so difficult!
"Taz, are you okay?" Up said, grabbing my arm, "Just tell me what's up." He finished, with a smile. The smile, Up's smile. it never failed to make me feel better.
"Okay, ah Up." I started out slowly, trying to find the words, "I really like you."
"Well I like ya to Taz."
"No Up, what I'm trying to say is, I... I love you. I always have since you saved me at my quinceanera an I ah." It was as if my vocal cords stopped working. I looked at Up, he was just sitting there with a shocked look on his face I stood up. I knew I shouldn't have told him.
"I'm sorry Up." I started to run but he called my name. I stopped and turned to face him.
"Taz, don't say sorry," he said as he got up from the bench. "because I," he took a step towards me, "love," he took another step as my heart skipped a beat, "you," Up had reached me, putting one hand around my waist, "too." And with that, he pulled me closer to him. I closed the gap between us by stretching up and sealing his lips in mine.
It was amazing, I had waited years for that and by the way Up returned it, he had been waiting for it as well.
