I hear soft footsteps headed in my direction, I knew instantly they belonged to Ella. I smiled as I looked for the tomato sauce in the Martinez's cabinet.
"Hey Iggy" Ella said cheerily, I pulled the tomato sauce out of the cabinet and turned to where I guessed she was.
"Hi Ells" I replied while placing the sauce on the counter and looking in the cabinet for pasta.
"If you're looking for the pasta it's on the shelf above you" Ella said moving towards me. I placed a hand on the shelf above me and sure enough there was the pasta.
"Thanks Ella" I say while turning towards the fridge and pulling out the meat for my meatballs.
"So what'cha cooking?" she asks as she slides onto the counter next to me.
"Pasta and meatballs" I tell her as I fill a pot with water.
"Yum" she giggles and I feel my heart flutter. I wasn't going to deny it I liked Ella a lot but she deserved better than a blind bird kid. As I prepared the food Ella and I talked about meaningless stuff like school, her friends, the flock and other things like that. I pull out the stringy pasta from the pot I pick up a noodle and flung it in the direction of Ella's voice. I know I hit her when she gasps.
"Did you just throw a noodle at me" she asked with feigned disbelief, I smile innocently at her.
"Nope wasn't me" there is a short silence and then I feel something wet and chunky sliding off the top of my head, I also hear Ella's soft laugh. I reach a hand up to my sticky cheek and feel the sauce that Ella had just dumped on my head.
"Oh you think it's funny" I yelled playfully
"Yea I do" she says between fits of giggles. I turn on me holding a hand full of raw hamburger meat.
"NO, no, no, no please don't Iggy" she pleads still laughing, her begging didn't stop me, I dropped all the meat from my hand onto her head. I was cracking up, until Ella smeared some of the meat on my cheek. My laughing stopped almost instantly.
"Not so funny when it's you is it" she said triumphantly.
"You just started a war" I said with a smile, I walked over to the fridge and took an egg out of the carton.
"You wouldn't" she said but all I did was smile evilly at her.
"I would" I told her before throwing the egg at her.
"You missed" Ella said, I could practically see the smirk on he face. I took a handful of flour from the bag behind me and blew it at her.
"Iggy" she shrieked telling me I got her. I started laughing but stopped when more sauce was flung at me hitting my face. I walked over to Ella standing only centimeters away, I moved my hand slowly towards the bowl of pasta; I stuck my hand into it and came out with a handful. I dropped the pasta onto Ella. I could hear it slid from her hair down her face; and a smile broke out on my face. She moved her hands behind me and then cracked an egg over my head. I was about to say something when Ella pressed her lips to mine. After a few seconds of shock I started to kiss back. I wrapped my arms around her thin waist as her hands tangled themselves into my strawberry blonde hair. I pulled away for just enough time for both of us to catch our breath before my lips were back on hers. I slid my tongue against her bottom lip begging for entrance to her mouth. I felt around for one of her legs and picked her up and put her on the counter. Her legs now rested on either side of me and my arms caged her in on the counter. Our lips moved fervently with each other and our tongues danced. I heard throat clearing in the background and both me and Ella broke apart.
"H… hi Max" Ella mumbled.
"Well isn't this just a lovely sight" sarcasm dripped from Max's words.
"Max lets just leave them alone" Fangs voice was barley above a whisper.
"We'll talk about this later" she warned us before disappearing with fang.
