Onyx eyes fluttered open, staring at the ceiling momentarily until the room came into sharper focus. Slowly, the dark orbs tore themselves away to travel over the blonde figure beside him. Edward was still asleep, his chest rising and falling slowly, his golden hair fanned out on the pillow beneath him.

Roy didn't deserve him. He knew he didn't. There was nothing he'd be able to do in this lifetime or the next that would make him worth of the beautiful creature sleeping in his bed.

Because, despite how much Edward had seen and done, all the hardships he'd gone through, despite his imperfections, he was still pure. Innocent in a way that only Edward could manage to be.

What right did Roy have to taint him? To take that innocence away? In a single night, he had managed to lure the blonde teen into his bed, succeeding in distracting him from his goal. That was what really caused the pang in his chest. Roy knew what Ed's objectives were. Knew that, no matter what, Ed would be leaving him, because he had promised Alphonse he would. He promised his brother that he would restore him to his human form, and Roy had made him forget that, even if only for a night.

He didn't deserve the sleeping angel beside him. He never would, and he knew that. But the little pang that told him so disappeared when he watched the golden eyes flicker open and come to rest on his face. The little blonde's cheeks colored slightly, and he offered the raven-haired man beside him a shy smile, one quite uncharacteristic of the normally brash teen.

And it was in that instant that he realized it. It didn't matter that he didn't deserve Edward. Because that wasn't what they were going to be about. In that moment, he realized that it had nothing to do with deserving, and everything to do with want.

A/N: I re-wrote this one on a whim this afternoon when I got bored. I lengthened it, though it's still pretty short. I added background to it, but found that it made the story ramble, so I took it out.

If I get good reviews for this, I'm thinking I could take it from a one-shot into an actual story. I think it has the potential to go there, but what I think isn't important. It's what you guys think. So review!
