He'd come to her with a bright smile, food and power

He'd come to her with a bright smile, food and power. Weak as she was she could feel it pressing down on her. So she wasn't surprised when she found him again, dressed in Shinigami black, playing with a short sword.

'Gin.'

'Heya, Rangiku. I see ya made it, at last.' He was crouching, spinning the wakizashi in one hand, staring at a flower.

'You didn't say goodbye.' Rangiku sat down next to him and saw he wasn't staring at a flower at all, but at a large butterfly.

'I knew you'd follow me here.' Gin smiled, glancing over at Rangiku.

'If I didn't, Gin? Did you ever think of that?' She watched the butterfly flap its wings and begin to fly.

Quick as a striking snake, Gin's arm and sword flashed out. 'I've told ya before, Rangiku.' His smile widened as he brought the tip of his sword level with his narrow eyes, as if mesmerized by the dying butterfly. 'I don't like sad stories.'

He stood up and patted Rangiku's shoulder. 'I'll see ya round, ne, Rangiku?' He strode off, swinging the sword, now free of butterflies, whistling a merry tune and he didn't look back.

He never did.

A/N: Yes, another Gin piece. He's just so fun to write. Concrit and reviews are appreciated. As always, don't own anything. Title comes from the song that inspired this.
