Beautiful 'Ifs'

'Ifs' are poison.

They are deceiving.

They are evil of the worst kind.

They sell you a false promise.

They tell you of another world.

One in which you shall be happy.

But the reality is they don't give you happiness.

They just make everything worse.

You latch onto them and cannot let go.

They become your drug.

And you cannot be happy.

Because you have seen a world in which the right choice was made,

not the wrong.

Sakura's world was now built around 'ifs'.

She thought about what could have been,

And she saw happiness,

So much so she cannot face that which she has.

She spends her days locked up in her room alone with her thoughts.

What was the point anymore?

Haruno Sakura looked at the body in her lap, that of Uzumaki Naruto,

Team mate, Vessel of the Kyuubi and most importantly friend.

Although limp he was not quite dead yet,

But he wasn't far off.

Sakura knew if she were to stop pumping healing chakra into him

The Kyuubi wouldn't be able to help him,

And he would die.

Her body started to shake but no tears came.

As much as she willed her self to cry she couldn't,

She had used all off her tears up already

On someone who didn't deserve them no less.

She could only save him if she used all of her chakra,

And even then it wasn't certain he would survive.

That's when she decided.

If she couldn't heal him she would kill the person who did this to him.

She heard the sound of a door being opened as she fondly pulled her hand through the mass of blonde hair.

"Well, well. If it isn't the pathetic Sakura-chan."

Sakura raised her head so the man could see her face.

Anger clouded her features as, in a blur, she had the man by his neck against the wall.

"You shall pay. Sasuke-kun."

The man's eyes widened as a chakra-enhanced fist was pulled back,

Ready to be pushed into his face and kill him by pushing his skull into his brain.

He closed his eyes, waiting for the blow, but it never came.

"N-n-n-nar-naruto?" Came Sakura's shaky voice.

"Sakura-chan! Don't kill Sasuke-teme!"

"Y-you're su-supposed t-to be dead!"

"Don't worry! I can't go yet! I've still got to become Hokage! Believe it!"

"It can't be. It's just my imagination again. You're dead, because of me, it's all my fault!"

"Don't worry Sakura-chan!" Were the last words she heard from the blonde's mouth.

She sat up.

It was that dream again.

The one that recounted how she killed her two team mates and best friends.

But Naruto never actually came back to life and stopped her killing Sasuke.

And now all she was made of was 'ifs'.
