I've been sitting on this for a while. I recently heard the song again (Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions by The Lonely Island), and I instantly though of Iggy. He's one of the best characters in the series. I'm not going to continue this; it's a stand-alone story. I probably won't write any more Max Ride stories either...
Fang started to giggle. If that had been anybody else, Iggy wouldn't have cared. Well, if it was Max he would've thought that she'd finally gone off the deep end, but this was Fang. He barely seemed capable of normal human emotion. Alright, wasn't a normal human, but everybody else seemed to actually feel things other than a protection instinct.
Nudge was the first of the flock to recover from the shock. "Fang, what are you laughing at?"
"Come."
She went, and a minute later, she started to laugh too.
"Iggy," She said when she'd calmed down. "You're coolest guy I know."
The pale blonde went to thank her, but he sensed a trick.
"And why would that be?" He asked suspiciously.
"Because," She began, dramatically. "You don't look at explosions."
Max snorted. "He kind of has no choice."
Iggy opened his mouth to agree, but music, softly, began to play.
Seem like these days, the whole world's on fire.
Things keep blowing the hell up.
And when all those rubber-neckers and lookie-loos stand slack-jawed staring,
The real men have the nuts to walk away.
Yeah, cool guys don't look at explosions,
They blow things up and then walk away.
Who's got time to watch an explosion?
There's cool guy errands that they have to walk to
Keep walking, keep shining,
Don't look back, keep on walking.
Keep walking, slow motion,
The more you ignore it, the cooler you look.
Gazzy, Max, and Angel started to laugh, and Iggy smirked.
He'd never admit it, but that just made him feel a little better about being blind.
Aww, Iggy feels good about himself. :3
