Alone
He thought that she could take care of herself. He remembered saying the words to Lee and believing them to be true. She was the ninja.
But then she was framed by the Iranian government.
Almost shot by a serial killer.
Blown up in Morocco.
Left for dead in Somalia.
He learned the hard way that he had been very wrong. He learned the hard way that bad things happened to Ziva David when he wasn't around to stop it. When he wasn't there to watch her back.
He wouldn't make that mistake again.
She would never be alone again.
