Paige's Letter

This short story is a letter from Paige to her parents and it takes place after the one episode of The Americans entitled 'March 8, 1983'.

Dear Mom and Dad—

I know that you might hate me for what I had just done behind your back but if what President Reagan said about your people being an evil empire is true, then I do not want to be part of this family anymore.

I called Pastor Tim and asked him to put me in a place of complete safety away from you… and from them.

Please try to understand that this way really is best for the three of us.

And if Henry wants to know where I am, all you need to do is tell him that I am alive… and safe from evil.

Please do take good care of yourselves… and remember that God will still love you… no matter how much evil you do in the name of the Soviet Union.

I was born an American citizen… and am willing to stay being one.
