This is mine first LOTR fic. The song Legolas is singing is actually from Enigma called 'Goodbye Milky Way'. I only changed it a bit.

On the coast he stands as one of the last Elves of Middle-Earth. The sun reflects the two rivers of tears that drip from the elegant face.
Legolas Greenleaf, son of King Thranduil and former Prince of Mirkwood, stands as a statue on the beach.
He stared at the sun and sobbed. The recent death of King Elessar of Gondor is still very fresh in the memory of the elegant Elf. Legolas closed his eyes and remembered the last words Aragorn, son of Arathorn said:
''Legolas, gwador nin, go to Valinor. To your people, "said the dying King, as he held his immortal friends hands. "Do not mourn, but be happy. Build a ship and go to the Undying Lands. Please, do you promise me, mellon nin?''
''I promise, gwador nin'' said the heartbroken Elf as he watched the last breath left the mortal's body.
Legolas opened his eyes and watched as the white gulls flew overhead. The Elf's eyes widened as one of the birds flew to him and landed on his slender, right shoulder. Legolas stared at the gull as more tears fell from his sapphire eyes. The gull stared right back at him and softly let out a sound, as if saying: ''Do not despair, over the sea awaits a land that does not know grief''
Legolas looks back at the sea again and softly, the Elf began to sing:
Shall I go, shall I stay
107 leages away
Many times, so many doubts
But no reason to talk about
His smooth, melodic voice filled the air as Legolas sang to the gulls, as they are now circling above the Elf and the little gull, who is still seated on Legolas' shoulder and seemed to listening to his voice.
Mission is over, mission is done
I will miss you, Children of the Sun
But it's time to go away
Goodbye Middle-Earth
Legolas began to walk slowly along the shoreline, the waves of the sea lapping gently at his feet.
For a better world without hate
Follow your heart, believe in fate
Only visions and the mind
Will guide you to the light
As the fair being continued to walk, Legolas is able to make out the form of a ship he build with Gimli, just as he had promised his brother. His tears began harder to fall as he saw the Grey Ship.
Mission is over mission is done
I will miss you, Children of the Sun
But it's time to go away
Goodbye Middle-Earth
As Legolas boarded the ship, it began it's first and last journey into the West, carrying it's two beings.
The Elf looked over his shoulder as the gull flew up, and looked for the last time at Middle-Earth, where the body of his beloved Estel is resting.
