Halloween in the Pit

It was Halloween night, and all through the Pit

Some Joes were really, I mean really getting into it.

Roadblock had cooked up an All Hallows feast

Of pumpkin soup, baked apples, and rare done roast beast.

Mainframe and Dial Tone had hatched up a scheme

Hoping to get some teammates to scream.

So they rigged up some cameras, some mirrors and lights

And enlisted some others to help make the frights:

Shipwreck and Dusty, always up for some fun,

And Cover Girl to get all the make up work done.

Ace got on board, just to handle the bet

Of how many screams these jokers could get.

They judged the time perfect when all met for chow

Including the plotters; it had to be now!

A slight nod from Mainframe, the lights all went out

And some nervous Greenshirt at once raised a shout.

Up near the ceiling, aloft in midair:

A woman in white with long stringy grey hair;

A frightening pirate with only one eye;

And a skeleton uttering a bone-chilling cry.

In total chaos, the Greenshirts all fled:

They could face COBRA, but not the undead!

The Joes were, however, of far sterner stuff

And set to calling this Halloween bluff.

An arrow from Scarlett and a javelin from Jaye

Shattered the mirrors, giving the jokers away.

Snake Eyes caught Dial Tone flipping some switches.

Shipwreck's misquotes were giving Flint twitches.

Duke tackled Dusty straight to the floor

Beach Head caught Cover Girl trying to sneak out the door.

Mainframe and Ace thought they'd get away clear

Until Lifeline grabbed them each by an ear.

"Look at this mess!" Wild Bill cried with heat.

"You scared all the Greenshirts...You aught to be beat!"

"They can run the PT course at midnight to start,"

Suggested Beach Head with delight in his heart.

"They can clean up the glass with toothbrushes, too,"

That came from Scarlett out of the blue.

"Remedial English, for Shipwreck, at least," Flint stated.

"I'll be the tutor, and the test will be rated!"

Then General Hawk, in a voice loud and clear

Said "added to all that, KP for a year!

And the profits from Ace's little betting pool

Will make a nice gift to the orphanage school."

Six chastised Joes stared, faces tinged green

Until Cover Girl winked : "Wait 'til next Halloween!"
