Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2
"One"
The man quickly ran down the hallway, occasionally looking at the horror behind him to ensure that he was still moving fast enough. He knew that if at any moment he let his guard down, he would surely be dead. The empty clip hit the ground as the man quickly placed another one inside his gun. He would have to make sure he used it wisely, for it was his last.
"Fifteen bullets…" the man said to himself. "And what….fifty of them? Good thing I'm not a gambling man, because I don't like these odds."
The man turned around and shot a few bullets into the onslaught of monsters. A few of the creatures hit the ground and the man continued running. His luck had finally run out. No more hallway left to run. Only the man, the creatures, and a door remained. And the door was locked. The creatures moved ever closer as the man fired a few more bullets off into the crowd. Just as soon as he had done this, he heard a voice on the other side of the locked door.
"Is someone in there?" yelled the man.
"Don't come in here!" yelled the voice from inside.
"Let me in damnit!" replied the man, as the creatures grew within yards of him.
"NO! Stay away from here!"
The man outside of the door quickly grew impatient, and he knew that if he didn't take action fast, he would be dead. He bashed the end of his gun against the door handle, and within a few swift hits, the handle broke and the man went inside.
"What have you done?" asked a voice from the corner.
"I saved my life, that's what!" replied the man angrily as he pushed a cabinet in front of the door.
"No….no….." mumbled the voice from a dark corner. "You have no clue what you've done"
Suddenly, a door on the other end of the room busted open, and two creatures came after the man.
"Where do these things keeping coming from?" yelled the man as he fired more bullets from his last clip. "They're everywhere!"
After firing several rounds into the creatures, they both hit the floor as blood flowed from their wounds. The man quickly dashed to the other side of the room and closed the door. He tried to push a nearby dresser in front of it, but this one was much too heavy for him to move on his own.
"Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to help me with this!" yelled the man.
"It doesn't matter…" replied the voice. "I told you not to come in here."
'What's wrong with you?" asked the man.
The voice in the corner was no longer there. Silence. The man quickly pulled out his flashlight and shined it into the corner. It was then he saw why the man was acting so weird. On his right arm, nothing but blood flesh and bone could be seen. He had been infected. The creature that now stood in the corner slowly walked toward the man, and the unblocked door quickly bust open with the force of even more creatures. The man quickly pulled out his clip and checked to see how long he was going to last. One.
"May God have mercy on us all." said the man.
A loud, single gunshot echoed through the room. The man's body hit the ground, the gun fell out of his hand, and the creatures slowly crowded around the fresh meat. Another insignificant life was lost.
That's how the Umbrella Corporation looked at it.
