Kindness Matters
Jackie dug one of her several coffee gift cards out of her purse and then waited patiently for someone to acknowledge her while she sat at the drive through. Jackie had had a long day at work and so she had decided to stop at the coffee shop on the way home.
She would have loved to go inside and read her book for a while but she figured she should get home to Nick and the kids so she settled for the drive through instead.
"Good afternoon, order whenever you're ready."
"Hi, I'll have a tall toasted marshmallow iced latte with nonfat milk please." Jackie told her.
"Ok, that will be $4.75 at the window."
"Ok, thank you."
Jackie pulled her car forward.
When she got to the window she looked in her review mirror and smiled, the woman in the car behind her sat dancing goofily, trying to entertain a small child, judging by the car seat that Jackie could just make out the top of.
That's probably what I look like when I have the kids with me Jackie thought to herself.
The coffee shop window opened.
"Hi." The woman greeted.
"Hi." Jackie replied as she handed her the gift card. The woman took the card and scanned it.
"There's $11.75 left on this card." The woman replied as she handed Jackie her card back.
"Great thanks, would you do me a favor and tell the woman behind me that her coffee is on me, tell her I said happy belated Mother's Day."
"Sure thing." The woman said as she again took Jackie's card and scanned it.
"Now there's $8.25 left on here."
"Ok thanks."
"No problem, here's your drink. Come back soon."
"Thanks, I will." Jackie assured her. Like tomorrow Jackie added to herself.
Jackie opened the straw, took one sip and drove off with a smile on her face, it always felt good to do something kind for someone else!
The End!
Happy way-belated Mother's Day!
