My story for the Secret Santa a friend held over on Tumblr! I drew takemeouttotheseawithyou. I'm a big fan of her art, and you should definitely go check her stuff out if you get the chance!
Blue hair danced in the wind around her, as her gaze flickered over the familiar sands, going past it to the salty depths her soul ached for. It was beautiful, the sea. Once upon a time, before her kingdom had ever been threatened, she hadn't felt the pull to its waters, but now it was a part of her. And it killed her to be away from it. From them.
She always made sure to keep following them in the newspapers, of course, but it just wasn't the same. New members, new bounties, and new adventures continued to unfold for them, and she wanted to be there, to know their stories without having them twisted to shine in the marines favor. They had helped her so much, and became more important to her then she ever would have dreamed, and now all she could do every day was pray for their safety.
Luffy, with his unwavering will, his free spirit, and his devotion to his own. Zoro, with a stubbornness, power, and kindness that led him far straighter than his sense of direction ever could. Nami, whose kindness, understanding, and companionship had been at her side every moment. Usopp, who faced his fears with bravery as tall as his tales. Sanji, whose tenderness and caring sought to protect them all, despite his protests for only caring about the ladies. Chopper, with a gentleness and love for all who needed help. She missed them all, their warmth and joy, and the pure love they had for each other.
Still, her friends were strong, and she knew they were happy. They had added to their numbers, and she had no doubt they would continue to pull more people into their orbit, unable to help falling into their whims. With a smile, Vivi turned away from the deep blue surface. She would see them again someday. And she wouldn't hold them back when that day came.
I went with the prompt 'Vivi watching the sea', and it just kinda fell into place from there. Sorry it's so short, but Vivi's a do-er. I don't think she's just going to sit and reflect for too long, without doing something! Got to get ready for the day they see each other again! I'm sure we'll get to see the Straw Hats reunited with her someday! Hope this is a good gift, and Merry Christmas!
