"Mornin' Rae."
The doors to the common room slid open with a soft hiss, and Beast Boy emerged from the hallway yawning. His disheveled forest green locks fell over his eyes and tickled his forehead, teasing him in his just-barely-there wakefulness. He hadn't even changed yet. Clad in a pair of batman pajama pants and his own bare chest, the changeling lumbered over to his girlfriend, wrapped his arms around her from behind, and pressed a sloppy kiss to her cheek.
"Put some clothes on, Beast Boy." Raven's usual monotone still couldn't hide the traitorous blush in her cheeks, but it didn't really matter. She had already betrayed herself by leaning back into his embrace, snuggling contently into the warmth of his arms.
Beast Boy chuckled as she turned around to face him and buried her face in his chest. He could only see a halo of violet hair as she murmured a soft, "Good morning, Gar," against his skin.
Years ago, the idea of dating Raven was… incomprehensible. Alluring and ethereal, there was no other way to say it. She was beautiful. But Raven was beautiful in the kind of way a maelstrom was beautiful.
There was something about that whirlwind of a woman that called out to him. She spurred his heart and soothed his soul. Everyday he spent with her felt like a dream. A breathtaking, daunting, magnificent dream.
If it was, Beast Boy wanted to dream for eternity.
Garfield and Raven stood together for a long while, bathed in the soft golden glow of the rising sun. A comfortable silence lingered in the rays of sunlight that streamed in through the windows of the common room, pregnant with all the words they could have said, but chose not to. There was nothing that could have been said that the both of them didn't already know.
A certain kind of pure, unadulterated transparency came with their unabashed silence. Instinct spurred his lips to settle against her hair, and as if by their own accord, her arms snaked around his waist.
"I love you."
As smooth as honey, her voice picked up right where his left off.
"I love you too, Gar."
And finally the sounds of the morning slowly ushered the chromatically challenged couple back into reality.
So this was originally supposed to be the first chapter of a longer story I had in mind. But I ended up loving it so much as a stand alone one shot I might just leave it. If you'd be interested in the rest of this story (It's about Raven going into a coma and Beast Boy kind of spiraling towards madness. It's original, I promise. I don't intended to write about a sobbing Beast Boy for 10 chapters.), review or PM me and I'd love to turn this into something. Thank you everyone who reads this and the rest of my stories. You all are the peanut butter to my jelly. R/R.~ Love, Sam.
Disclaimer: I do not, in fact, own Teen Titans.
