Disclaimer: I do not own any Get Smart characters excepting Agent 05. I am not making money off this story.

Author's Notes: This story came to me while I was in Reno this weekend. We just happened to order the movie version of Get Smart, and I thought I'd try my hand at a Get Smart fanfic. I hope you will all enjoy the story.

Chapter One: Meeting Agent 05 and a Reunion

"You wanted to see me, Chief?" Agent 86 a.k.a. Maxwell Smart asked.

"Yes, Max," the chief responded. "We have a new agent, and I'd like you to show her the ropes."

"Okay," Max agreed, "but why is she here?"

"Nobody knows," the chief answered. "She just showed up – and here is the odd part. She seems to know everything about you."

"How is that possible?" Max inquired skeptically. "No one can know all of my secrets."

"Apparently she does," the chief said. "Moreover, I also think she may have feelings for you. I'd suggest you tread carefully with her."

"Tread carefully with whom?" a new voice interjected.

Both men turned to see the new agent, Agent 05, standing in the doorway. She had a very inconspicuous look on her face, as if she had not just been eavesdropping on their conversation. The chief frowned at her in order to show that he disapproved of what she had done. Agent 05 ignored the chief and gazed intently at her prey: Maxwell Smart. She already had a half-formed plan on how to ensnare Max for her own. However, the question that remained was whether the plan would actually work.

Max felt rather unsettled by the intense gaze of Agent 05. He felt as though he were being scrutinized from the inside out. Max wished she would blink, but she seemed to have extremely moist eyes. As Max stared back at Agent 05, he began to appreciate her beauty – but not for long.

"I hear you are going to be showing me the ropes of CONTROL," she said.

You little busybody, he thought scathingly. Aloud, he smiled and said, "That is correct. Shall we begin?"

As they walked out of the chief's office, they were halted by Agent 99. She was curious about the new agent – or so she said. Max had broken up with her about a month and a half earlier, and she was desperate to win Max back. However, Max was totally convinced that it was over between himself and Agent 99. Furthermore, he wanted nothing to do with her. Unfortunately, though, she was becoming increasingly obsessed with winning him back. Max did not know what to do about Agent 99, except that he needed to do something soon.

"Max, are you all right?" Agent 99 asked. "You seem distressed."

Don't answer her, he reminded himself silently. You should be focusing on Agent 05.

In an attempt to distract himself from his ex, he began to lead Agent 05 away at a brisk pace. She looked at him quizzically, but said nothing. When they were a good distance away from Agent 99, Max leaned towards Agent 05 and whispered, "Lesson number one – how to ditch unwanted people."

"Why do we want to ditch her?" Agent 05 whispered. "She seems nice."

"Long story short, she is my ex," Max whispered back.

Agent 05 merely nodded and stood next to Max, waiting for him to do something.

"We should pick up our pace, or she will catch up," Max murmured softly.

As they hurried along the corridor which led to the main exit of CONTROL Headquarters, Agent 99 stood at the entrance to the chief's office and fumed. How did Max manage to escape from her every time? This time, he had a valid excuse, but she would not let him get away for long! Agent 99 had begun to form a plan.
