"Ha! I win again!"
"I'm beginning to think you are cheating," the Doctor replied in a petulant tone. He removed his tie and placed it on top of the pile of clothes next to him.
"Well, it's not my fault they wouldn't give us anything to use as chips, and you would insist on poker."
"We could have just played Hearts."
"You need at least three for that."
"We could have just played for points, then."
"You should have suggested that before you started losing, spaceman. Now, deal." Donna grinned at him. He obeyed, pouting a bit.
Donna sorted her cards, and put two down. "I'll take two." He dealt her two more cards, and traded in three of his own. She looked up at him. "Is that your foot on my leg?"
The Doctor grinned, and rubbed his foot against her leg, under her trousers, again. "Am I bothering you?"
"If you are trying to distract me, it won't work," Donna said, not very convincingly. "Now, show me your cards."
He spread his cards on the table. "Two pair."
She put her cards down. "Three of a kind. Me again!"
The Doctor sighed, then began unbuttoning his shirt. It soon joined the pile on the floor that already held his jacket, suitcoat, tie, trainers and socks. Donna had so far only lost her shoes and her jacket.
"If I acknowledge your superiority at this game, can we stop playing?" the Doctor asked.
Donna considered. "I suppose." She pushed her chair back from the little table, and went over to sit on the bunk. "How long did they say they would keep us here?"
The Doctor padded over in his bare feet to sit beside her. "Just 'til morning. Then we can see the magistrate and get this straightened out." He put his arm around her. "At least they put us in the same cell."
Donna leaned into him, and ran her hand over his chest. "Mmm." The doctor brushed her hair behind her ear, and leaned in to kiss her. They broke apart when they heard the guard laughing from across the room. Donna sat back, blushing. "Not exactly private, though."
He laughed. "Not exactly."
"So, how many times have you been locked up like this?"
The Doctor rubbed his chin, considering. "I've lost count."
Donna laughed, "Always running into trouble with the local law, eh?"
He grinned back. "That's me, a maverick!" The smile faded. "Sorry to get you mixed up in it, though."
Donna took his hand. "S'okay. I'd rather be here with you." She held his gaze for a long moment, until she heard the guard lauging again.
The Doctor called out, "Are we entertaining you? Do you mind?"
The guard said something Donna didn't quite catch, but he stopped laughing and went back to reading some papers.
"Shame they didn't let you keep the sonic screwdriver."
"They were pretty thorough in the search."
"So, know any other card games?"
The Doctor's eyes lit up. "Have you ever played Fizzbin?"
"No. Is it easy to learn?"
"I'll teach you. No chips again, so we'll have to play the strip version."
"How did I know you would say that? No playing footsie this time, though."
"Now, now, not so hasty!"
