A New Beginning

Chapter One: The Abandoned Well

Kagome was walking toward the abandoned well just as a few of her friends, including her best friend Hanna, run up from behind her.

"Hey Kagome! Nobody believed me that you and I were going to be working in the garden all day, so they wanted to know if we could go shopping with them in Downtown," Hanna said as Kagome turned around startled to see all her friends following close behind Hanna.

"Yeah… Hanna and I are going to be busy all day today. So you guys better go on with out us," Kagome said to confirm with her friends lie. Kagome knew why Hanna was here and it wasn't to work in the garden all day.

As everyone else said goodbye and turned around to leave, Hanna and Kagome walk together towards the mysterious well that Hanna had heard about from Kagome the day before and its "magical powers". There's no such thing as a transporting well, especially one that transports people to ancient China. It's impossible and just crazy. Hanna was thinking about this while the walked up to the edge of the well and stopped. Hanna looked down to see if anything was in there to see it was empty.

"Kagome, if this is all a joke and you make me jump in there for no reason, I will be very upset with you. Do you understand?"

"Why to I lie to you about something this serious?"

"I don't know, but I just wanted you to understand that."

"I understand. Now take my hand and hold on tight," Kagome said as she jumped in the well taking Hanna with her. Hanna, scared for her life, closed her eyes shut as she and Kagome continued to fall deeper and deeper into the magical well. Hanna held on with all her life to Kagome's small hand.

When Hanna opened her eyes she saw that she was at the bottom of the well and Kagome was no where to be seen. She looked up to see a bright blue sky above her and could here little blue birds chirping away to a beautiful song of nature. She knew that she was not in the same well. Kagome lived in the city, so no one was able to here the birds chirping over the sounds of cars driving by. Come to think of it, she didn't even hear any cars at all.

"Are you coming or not," Kagome said as she looked down to see her friend still standing confused in the bottom of the well.

Hanna looked around and saw a small wooden ladder leading to the top of the well. She climbed the well, trying not to look down, until she reached the top. When she got up to the top, she checked out her surroundings. She could tell that she was definitely not in the city or even the same time period. What Kagome had told her was absolutely not a lie.
