Unlike her, it took me a while to fall asleep. The adrenalin would stay in my body for a long time and it wouldn't just "explode" as it did for her. Maybe 'cause she's been fighting long before I was.
I looked at her face, taken by the neutral, sleeping expression. I've never seen such a beautiful creature. Even as she slept, her personality trails were still visible.
Even through the neutrality, if someone paid attention, some rigidity could be seen, just like an expression that made her unattainable.
Except maybe for one detail. Xena had only one weakness which I knew well. Me. If anything hurts me, it would break her heart. But she wouldn't succumb, showing herself strong. But beneath all that, I knew there was just a woman. My soulmate.
I smiled softly and touched her hair, caressing it. Then, I pressed my lips against her forehead, softly, no intention of waking her up. At last, I lay down on her side and started staring at the last sparks of the fire we've made feel hours ago. When they were out and the night's weather made my arms go cold, I held her, finding warmth and comfort in her immobile body.
Like that, I was taken to the dream's world. Where I would see my Warrior's face again.
