The snow fell gently outside of the small apartment, while inside strings of multi-coloured lights were being untangled and then strung upon a plastic Christmas tree.

"Thank you, my dear, for inviting me over. It's certainly more entertaining than wrapping scores of fruitcake in cellophane for mother."

"How is she doing, Ducky? Did you tell her I said hi?"

"Of course, and well, you know Mother…," he trailed off, fussing with one of the strings of lights.

"Well, I had told you last year that we were going to have Christmas together."

"That you did, Abigail; that you did." He smiled at her, quite contentedly.

Strings of lights were uncoiled and wrapped around the Christmas tree standing in the middle of the tiny room. Abby pulled out boxes of ornaments from a closet somewhere, then took the box of Ducky's ornaments he had brought and placed them around the tree. The two shared some eggnog and played carols while they shared stories of Christmases past. There was no rush to finish the tree, and even if it took all night, it would be well worth the company.

Once all of the ornaments were hung, little stockings were hung along her fireplace, and garland was placed everywhere possible, Ducky wrapped his arm around Abby's waist, who leaned against his shoulder. Together, they took in the sight of their very unique Christmas tree. Behind it, against the window, were candles flickering along the pane.

"It looks positively marvelous, my dear."

"Agreed!"

"I do believe we should make our Christmas pudding before it gets too late, don't you?"

"Of course, Duckman. I'll go preheat the oven. I'm so glad we're celebrating Christmas together, this is totally awesome."

Abby set up the entire kitchen just for the preparation of the pudding, with all the ingredients Ducky had brought over. As the oven chimed, the raven-haired girl was as chipper as could be. Like a little girl, she was anxious for the food to come out of the oven, which made the Medical Examiner smile. Once cooled, the food had been filling, and soon the clock was tolling eleven o'clock.

"Do you wanna watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas with me, Ducky? It's my tradition, I grew up with it."

"I suppose I could; we don't have work tomorrow, and I don't have to check on Mother now that she has started to get along with the nurses…"

The two curled up on the couch, Abby leaned against Ducky and sang along to the words with Boris Karloff. Before long, her breathing slowed, her painted eyes closed, and she nuzzled up against him. He pulled the fleece, spider web blanket across the two of them, kissed her on the forehead and said, "Merry Christmas, my Abigail."
