Back-story: like I said in my A/N this has nothing to do with another episode but for those unadventurous few or ones who are confused…this particular piece occurs after an out of town case in which a suspect has stalked and attacked Scully. He got away, however, and his very stalkerish tendencies have scared Scully.
Comfort
"I didn't mean to wake you." Mulder apologized.
Scully was wrapped in a comforter, her hair was slightly mussed, and her make-up was smudged creating dark circles under her eyes.
"You didn't." Scully assured, she stepped back and he slid into her motel room.
"I thought you might want some company. I didn't realize how late it was."
She walked silently to the small couch in front of the motels antenna toped TV. Mulder sat beside her. She turned, her back was to him, so she could retrieve the remote from the arm rest. Her partner grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back so that her head was settled in his lap. She turned her body so that she now was on her side, facing the TV. Fox tugged the comforter up around her shoulders. He ran a soothing hand rhythmically from the back of her shoulder to her waist.
"Your still worried." Fox accused.
"mmm."
"You know he's not coming back, not tonight, and even if he did I'm here your safe. You know that?"
"Yes its just…I'm just…" Scully struggled.
"Shh," Fox hushed, "Sleep now, please."
She sighed and consented. He was there so she was safe.
