A/N: Hey all. This was written as yet another episode relate piece, for "The Jersey Devil" (aren't I original). When I watched the episode I just couldn't resist this part. This is simple but hopefully enjoyable. A beta would be wonderful. And reviews are icing on the cake.

Recap: Mulder's trip to Atlantic City doesn't take him to the glittering casinos or luxury hotels. Instead, he plays a dangerous game of hunter-and-hunted with the man-eater that haunts the back alleys and woods surrounding the city. However, it's not long before even Scully, the eternal skeptic, is lured back by the mounting evidence Mulder manages to drag out of tourist-wary local law enforcement agencies. ()

"What about that guy you work with?" My friend questioned while chopping vegetables.
"Mulder?" I faltered.
"Yeah, I thought you said he was cute." She confirmed curiously.
More than cute. He has that whole bad 'I need you' , but good look down.
"He's a jerk. Not a jerk." I amended. "He's erm, just obsessed with his work."
And he's dragging me into his obsession with him. Hook, line and sinker.

"Sorry to interrupt your evening."
I rolled my eyes.
"Don't worry about it." I said into the receiver. It was boring anyway.
I wish it was you here anyway. Now that, that I didn't say.

"Who was that on the phone?"
He looked cute as he said that, curious.
"a guy."
Mulder's eyebrows shot up.
"The same guy you had dinner with the other night?"
He almost looked upset.
"Same guy."
"You going to have dinner with him again-"
Curious again.
"I don't think so."
"No interest?"
Was that hope?
"Not at this time."
That smile was brilliant.
