This was supposed to be a drabble (100 words) but I got carried away ^ ^;

The blue eyed, goofy, mastermind that everybody adored (to some extent) peered through the magnifying glass with great intensity to gaze upon a rather (un)spectacular sight.
It was a beetle. But oh! Not just any beetle, no. This one had a green stripe going in a horizontal stripe across its elytra* was otherwise jet black and was perfectly rounded, the size of a thumbnail.
To Sokka (said goofy mastermind) this was a discovery of magnitudinous proportions. For he, and only he, just may have discovered an entirely new species of beetle! "Since I have discovered you, I shall give you the name sokkaitius**!" He exclaimed jumping up. As he jumped up he felt a crunch beneath his boot, crying out in fear Sokka lifted his foot to find the beetle a squished mess of goo and black bits beneath it.
The screamed "NO! SOKKAITIUS!" was heard by all citizens of Ba Sing Se. Most smiled and shook their heads, others scowled and rolled their eyes, but all went about their day forgetting, already, the anguished cry.
A/N:
*The elytra are the hard outer shell that covers a beetle's wings.
**The name is completely made up with minimal (to no) reference to the actual scientific names concerning beetle species. ^ ^
