chap stick and chapped lips and things like chemistry

Jade West didn't do love. (Or, that's what she always said). So she wondered why her lips were crushed against his and she wondered why she felt something. Calmness was etched into her porcelain features, and she silently cursed herself for feeling calm in Beck Oliver's arms. When she opened her eyes they met his, and his brown eyes showed sincerity. She didn't know what to feel except numb, because Beck was her Romeo and even though she hated to admit it, she was falling for him a tiny bit. So she ran. (She was good at that).

She hated ice cream, but stupid Beck had forced her to. They weren't dating (yet) but they were good friends. And that was why she was sitting in a small café, sullen expression, arms crossed. There was a dish of coffee ice cream in front of her.
"So Jade, what ice cream do you want?" Beck gave her that prize grin of his.
"I hate ice cream." She deadpanned. He just laughed and dragged her over to the counter and ordered her coffee ice cream.
He was trying to get her to try it. She picked up the little silver spoon, although reluctant, and licked a little bit. It was delicious. She tried to hide her smile and instead thanked Beck.
She ended up with her head on his shoulder but in a totally platonic way, right?

She got a text from him the next day, asking her to cover for him and play Chess with Andre's grandma. She asked him why he asked her of all people. He said it's because it was always her. She smiled.

They were back at the spot where he first kissed her. (Well, she kissed him, but Jade West would never admit that). She stopped pretending, because she really had fallen for him. And fallen hard.
Beck Oliver was the nice guy. Jade West was the mean girl. But he was her Romeo, and she was his Juliet. And maybe he had started to make her cold heart melt.
