She is 7 years old. She is playing Cops and Robbers with her neighbour, Jason. She is chasing him yelling "Stop! Theif!" He climbs a tree and sticks his tongue out at her from behind the leaves. She points her pretend gun at him and yells "BANG! Now you're dead!" Jason squeals as he falls out of the tree, and lands on his side. She runs over to him and hugs him, saying "It's ok Jayjay, you'll be ok, don't worry Jayjay…" over and over. 5 minutes later he is chasing her yelling "Stop! Thief!" He shoots at her, and a tuft of grass near her feet turns slightly brown.

"…Kai? Kai? Are you there?" I shake my head and drag myself back to the present, where I see Jason sitting in front of me, and Professor Trelawney at my side. She sighs, "Ahh, my dear, you were quite clearly in the beyond, gazing out at something nobody else could see. Do you recall what it was you saw?" She stares at me intently, made so much more intense by those huge glasses she wears, and I nervously stutter out "Uh- I- no Professor. It's gone." Her face drops a little, her disappointment obvious, and mutters "Not to worry, dear, it's not your fault you were prematurely withdrawn from the beyond…" She turns to look at Jason, who shrugs, and she walks off to bother Liz and Callie at another table. I sigh and look into the crystal ball between Jason and I, and watch the mist twist and turn for a few minutes before Jason says "Right, Kai, what's the matter with you, you're real quiet today and you haven't made any bullshit predictions for Trelawney. Spill." I giggle inwardly. Jay spent so much of his childhood around girls, his vocabulary is very girly, and so many people tend to think he's gay. I mean, how can they not? He's really handsome, has a great personality, is really funny and, well, he's quite short for a guy. Apparently height has something to do with it?

I wake myself up out my second daydream to see Jay staring at me with that 'Dude, what the hell?' look on his face, and I laugh and say "Sorry man, it's just-" I pause and look him in the eye, "I didn't sleep well at all last night…" His face grew serious and he leant forward to whisper.

"Serious?" I nodded, and he swore under his breath. "I thought they had stopped?" I shook my head and whispered back, "They started again in the summer, but I only had two, so I thought it was nothing. Now I'm getting them more and more, I'm getting worried." He nods, deep in thought, then says "Just don't let Trelawney find out, or you'll be her new little assistant." I glare at him, tempter to throw the crystal ball at him, but he flashes me that smile of his and I know I can't stay mad at him. He tries to cheer me up for the rest of the Divination lesson by telling Professor Trelawney a number of violent and disturbing deaths for the both of us.
