Mello slipped on his leather jacket. It was the day that, with a little bit of luck, he and Matt would catch Kira. Mello heard the video games in the joint hotel room. Matt must have needed to play a little while before they left. Mello picked up a chocolate bar from his stash and opened it. A sound from the next room told him that Matt had saved his game. That was fine with him. They needed to leave soon anyway. He opened the door that joined his room to Matt's. Matt stood by the couch hurriedly tugging on his striped shirt. Matt gave him a venomous look. "I thought you said you'd knock." He said flatly. Mello rolled his eyes. "Oh Please, It's not like it's anything I haven't seen before, Princess." Matt flushed angrily but calmed himself quickly. "Let's not fight Mello. Not today." Mello bit his lower lip. "Fine, I'm sorry…Hey Matt," He held out the chocolate bar. "Would you like some chocolate?" the corner of Matt's mouth twitched. "Sure." Before Mello could blink, Matt had grabbed his chin and forced him into a kiss. When they broke apart, Mello's eye twitched and he bit his lip. After a long and awkward pause, Mello pointed at Matt and shouted. "YOU TASTE AWFULL!" Matt flushed angrily but said nothing. "You offered me chocolate." Matt replied coolly even though his insides were squirming. "So I took some…" Mello's eyes looked as though they would pop out of there sockets. "YOU KISSING ME WASN'T WHAT L HAD IN MIND!" Matt remained calm. "I know you liked it Mello… You kissed me back…" Mello turned around and marched toward the door to his own room. He had in fact liked it. But the thought scared him. He couldn't resist a glance back. Behind his goggles, Matt's green eyes resembled those of a puppy's. Mello blushed and turned away. When Mello turned back and marched towards him, Matt was sure that Mello would hit him. He closed his eyes and braced himself. Mello took hold of Matt's shirt and pulled him into another kiss. Matt's eyes snapped open. 'What the hell?!' Mello pulled away and whipped his mouth. "There." He muttered. "Now we're even."
When Mello had closed the door to the joint room, Matt blushed and touched a finger to his lips. 'Finally!'
Mello straddled his motorcycle. Matt had been acting strange. But he always acted this way before they did anything extremely dangerous. Mello reached down to pick up his helmet. It was not there. When he looked around he found that Matt was holding it in his gloved hands. Bowing his head slightly, Matt handed it to Mello. He took it and put in on. "Thanks Matt. You should get in the car, it's time to go." Mello was about to start his bike when he felt Matt's arms pulling him into a tight, but loving hug. Mello didn't know how to react. He was new to the 'lovey huggy' thing. He blushed crimson and turned his head so that Matt couldn't see. "Uh… Matt?" He didn't have to say anymore. Matt let go and backed up a pace. Mello could feel his face as it continued to blaze red hot. Matt looked into Mello's scared face with his big green eyes. They made it so that Mello couldn't look away. "Sorry," Matt mumbled. He too was blushing a soft pink. "I just… just have this feeling that we might not come out of this alive." Mello bit his lip. 'This again!' Before he could speak however, Matt's face was inches from his own once more. Matt placed a gentle kiss on Mello's lips. This time it was a goodbye kiss. When they stopped kissing, Matt didn't let go of Mello's face right away. He placed his for head against Mello's and hung there for a moment. Then backed away slowly. "Bye Mello... Hopefully I'm wrong and I'll see you again soon." Matt got into the car and drove up beside Mello's Bike. He rolled down the window and gave one of his winning smiles. " C'mon Mello. Let's catch Kira!"
