Disclaimer: I own nothing of Smallville except for the character of Kai-El/Kyle Kent.
Rated: K
Author's Note: Just another one-shot of Chloe and my OC, Kai-El/Kyle Kent. This one is short but sweet. I was in a romantic mood. Hope you enjoy this one!
Summary: He was her own Superman.
Her Own Superman
1/1
Faster than a speeding bullet.
More powerful than a locomotive.
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound….just like all other Kryptonians under a yellow sun.
It wasn't his abilities though.
Chloe Sullivan had been in love with her best friend Clark Kent for the longest time. An unrequited love that out of her jealousy had forced her to turn against her friend in a time where she was once a reckless teenager. Even today, despite her changing luck in romance in relationships that came in the form of Jimmy Olsen, Clark would always have a special place in her heart.
Her feelings on the other hand had been redirected. Not towards Jimmy, though. No. Those close to the couple thought that Chloe and Jimmy would make it, but she had finally put up with his insecurities long enough, especially over how he trashed Clark every chance he got, even going as far to blame Clark for the reasons why their relationship wasn't working out anymore. Jimmy had moved on like herself, but this time with Chloe's adventurous younger cousin.
Truth be told, Chloe never thought she would find anyone like Clark Kent, but she did.
And better one might add.
Ever since Kyle came into their lives after escaping the Phantom Zone with Kara, Chloe had felt a deep connection with the young Kryptonian warrior.
He had somewhat replaced Clark in her life now that her best friend was working at the Daily Planet alongside Lois. But, he never treated her like a sidekick. No, he treated her like the hero.
He made her feel special. He made her feel so many things again. More importantly, he made her feel alive.
She had her doubts though. After all, he was a super-powered alien if being the cousin of her own best friend was not enough. Her doubts hadn't lasted though, not while Kai-El…..Kyle had made sure to leave her a tulip every chance that he had, or always make sure her coffee was warm, not to mention the best, or when they went on dates like to a movie, how he would always bring her extra napkins when it came to jumbo-size popcorn, how he would always be a gentleman at dinner, or this one time where he made a beautiful graphic of Chloe on her computer at the Isis Foundation just to make her smile; he loved to see her smile, or do something simple like asking how her day was and to always be there for her when she was feeling down or scared.
Kyle was a warrior, raised to be strong by his and Kara's scheming father. Could a warrior, even one who had been trapped in the Phantom Zone for 19 years, especially by his own father, know an emotion like love? Apparently, he did, because he loved her so much, every time she thought about it, it brought tears to her eyes as corny as it may sound.
He made her feel like she was the only woman in the world, without being some crazed stalker like her other friend Lana had in the past.
Probably every girl wishes they had one, but like Lois, Chloe Sullivan now can claim that she has not just her own hero, but her own Superman.
