A/N: Hello again! This little one shot has been sitting in my folder since early last month. I wanted to try and make it longer, but really didn't see a need to add anything else to it. This one takes place a while after my first GI one shot, The Inner Battle.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gilligan's Island
The sun was peeking out over the palm trees as Mary Ann headed down to the lagoon. She had wanted to wake Gilligan up so they could watch the sun rise together, like they had almost every morning since they had gotten together, but when she peeked into his and the Skipper's hut, he wasn't in his hammock. Pondering over where he could be, Mary Ann headed to the lagoon to see if he was already there. When she reached their spot, she found Gilligan lying in the sand with his hands folded behind his head and his hat covering his eyes. As she approached him, she heard him snoring softly.
Mary Ann knelt beside him and removed the sailor's cap, allowing the sun's rays to touch Gilligan's face. Gilligan scrunched his eyes, trying to reduce the light entering through his eyelids. He groaned as he placed an arm over his eyes to block out as much light as he could.
Mary Ann brought her lips closer to his ear. "Good morning sleepy head," she whispered.
Gilligan smiled when he heard her voice. "Hi Mary Ann. Can I have my hat back please?" he asked, reaching out for the cap blindly.
Mary Ann laughed as she moved it out of Gilligan's reach. "If you want it back, then you'll have to catch me!" she replied, dashing off into the jungle.
Gilligan rolled over and watched the farm girl run farther into the jungle. It wouldn't be any fun if he chased after her now; he'd catch up with her too soon. And what was the point in that? After a few more moments, he couldn't see Mary Ann anymore. Gilligan stood up and took off in the same direction that his farm girl went. The sailor dodged trees and hurdled over rocks and fallen tree trunks trying to catch up to her.
It wasn't long before he saw Mary Ann. Gilligan lengthened his stride to help decrease the distance between the two.
Mary Ann turned her head and let out a playful squeal when she saw her sailor catching up behind her. She tried to pick up her pace, but Gilligan had caught up to her. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, bringing them both skidding to a stop.
"May I have my hat back now?"
The farm girl shook her head and hid it behind her back. "Nope," she giggled.
Gilligan playfully shook his head. "Okay, you asked for it," he replied and started tickling her.
Mary Ann squealed and begged for Gilligan to stop, but she refused to let go of his hat. The tickle fight continued, sending them both to the ground.
Soon, Mary Ann threw up her hands in surrender. "Okay, okay!" she gasped. "You win! Here's your hat back." She loosened her grip on the hat and held it in front of Gilligan's face. He took back his hat and lay down beside Mary Ann, wrapping his arms around her waist. Mary Ann cuddled in closer and let out a happy sigh. To her, these types of moments were perfect.
The happy couple didn't say anything for a long while. All they did was watch the sun's rays come above the palm trees, and listen to each other's heart beats. Often, it seemed as their heartbeats would come together, as if they were one.
One of Gilligan's hands drifted over one of Mary Ann's, and he began to softly stroke it with his thumb. This made the farm girl smile. It may sound silly, but the way that they looked after each other, Mary Ann knew that they were meant to be. They were perfect for each other, and nothing could ever change that.
A/N #2: Hope you enjoyed it! If you could leave a review on your way out that would be great :) ~cowgirlangel95 out!
