Are you washed in the blood?

"I suspect your brothers are taking care of her," he says as he leads you away, hands gripping your shoulders.

Are you washed in the blood
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?

Sometimes ((though you would never tell anyone)) you dream of Heaven and your brothers and a little girl that they carry around. She's giggling and they're laughing and everyone is just so happy.

Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?

It's all you can do to refrain from putting a bullet in your mouth. Instead, you try to live. You live so you can have your dreams and see your brothers and see the beautiful baby girl you know to be yours.

You try to ignore all the hatred – even though it's its own poison.

It eats away at your soul and consumes all that you know until you barely have the energy to rouse yourself from sleep.

Every day it's harder and harder to awake.

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed…

When you finally feel the last of your strength leave your body and your knees give out from beneath you – you feel no fear.

in the blood?
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?

You hear your name being called.

But it's not Perry's voice that you hear.

And it's not Perry or your nurse or the doctor you see hovering over you as you slowly open your eyes and taste the blood on your lips.

Hi, mama, says the beautiful little girl who has your hair and her daddy's eyes.

Hi, baby, you say and you touch her face.

There's a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

End.
