The beginning of the end Naru pov
"Hurry up Ruka" I said shouting to the boy behind me
"Sorry i'm covered in blood so it's hard to run Naru" Ruka said
"Well it's not my fault you ran into a guard Ruka" I said
"Will you both shut up and run" Bryhilder said
"Sorry" Ruka grumbled
"Did we lose them" I asked
"I think so" Bryhilder said
"I think we should take a break" I said
"Agreed" both of the boys said at the same time
they found a nearby cave and set up camp there
"Can someone light a fire?" I asked
"Sure I can" Bryhilder said
I shot him a quizzical glance as he began to chant and the branches caught fire
"Nice job Bry but when we're able to use magic" I ask
"For a couple of years now" He responded bluntly
"But how? A teacher, books, or just natural talent" I ask just to pester him
"Some strange black book and ancient scriptures on the wall some old forgotten language" He said
"Okay what did the scriptures say?" Ruka asked
"Uh something like, Yol Toor Shul" He said
"And what does that mean?" I ask
"Fire breath" He said as if they should know that
"Cool like a dragon!" Ruka said excitedly
"Yeah it's the language of the dragons called uh I think they call it a 'thu'um' for some reason" He said
"Huh that's a really strange name for something so powerful" I said
"I agree!" Ruka said
"I don't know why it's called that" He said almost annoyed
"Sorry…" Ruka said
"For what?" he asked
"Asking so many questions"
"We were just curious you…can be hard to talk to at times" I said
"How so?" Bryhilder asked
"Well you kind of just ignore our questions most of the time" Ruka said
"Yeah or just try to avoid the conversation entirely" I said
"I-I'm sorry guys I didn't realize" He said
"Bryhilder it's fine" I said
"Yeah it's all okay you didn't realize what you were doing wrong" Ruka said
"Wait I hear something" He said and he put out the fire so suddenly I yelped
"Bryhilder what are you doing!" I almost yelled
"Shut up!," he hissed
"I'm going to scout you two stay put no matter what" He continued
"Right" Ruka said in a small quiet voice
"Fine" I spat shooting a venomous glare his way
Soon after he left there was the sound of shouting and blades draw as well as crossbow fire then came the blast of air then I blacked out.
