It was about 9:00 when they got the phone call. Rory got up from the couch
to answer it. She was just in the middle of a suspenseful part of the movie
so she was kind of grumpy.
Rory: What do you want? She asked impatiently, wanting to get back to the movie.
Caller: Is your Mother home? The caller asked, sounding sorry and kind of scared.
Rory: No she's not now what.
Caller: Your grandmother.has..been...hit.....
But the rest of the words were lost to Rory. She dropped the phone. She somehow knew exactly what he was going to say. She began to cry. She hung up and phoned her mom's cell phone.
Mom! Mom! She cried out
Lorelai: what, what?
Rory: Its Grandma! She's...She's...been...in an accident.
Silence. More Silence. After a while Rory said:
You still there?
No answer. The phone went blank.
Rory didn't know what to do. So she just went upstairs and cried herself to sleep.
She turned and rustled.
She woke up. She was in the hospital. She saw her grandmother laying before her. She was not breathing. The only sound in the room was Rory breathing and the constant beeping sound of the pulse monitor.
But then the beeping stopped. It was replace by a beep that had no spaces in between it. Rory knew what had happened. She was dead. She screamed. NOOOOOOO....
......she woke with a start it was a dream. All a dream. She heard someone at the door. It was her mom. She looked at the clock 9:35. She had only been asleep for twenty minutes.
Rory: Mom, Mom where were you?!
She heard no reply. Rory ran downstairs.
Mom?
She stood there in silence.
Rory: Let's get to the Hospital!!
Silence.
MOM?
Lorelai: I don't know okay!!! I don't know what to do!
Rory: Um, may I suggest GOING TO THE HOSPITAL???
Lorelai: No..No..I don't know if I can!
And with that she ran upstairs.
