a glimpse into the world that is not here yet but will be coming. It is something that we all need to be prepared for. I hope this gives you an idea of the problem at hand and how we need to try to our best ability to fix it. I hope y'all enjoy reading this as much as i did writing this wonderful twisted little story Country Boy 1999

When we run dry

"This story takes place 100 years or so in the future. It is about when our worst fear comes true. All of the fossil fuels finally dry up. This is a problem that I will allow you to glance into so that you will see the aftermaths of this problem in our society and why this is a problem that we can't put off until tomorrow. So enjoy."

I stand alone. Looking at the ashes of were I once lived. I never believed that this would ever happen to me. I thought that we had enough for my children to have to deal with the problem once I was 6 feet under. But we heard dooms bell the moment we heard that the last oil rig had run dry.

The price for gas went sky high. We were running on our reserves. Within two weeks that was gone. Then the riots came. People overwhelmed by the mere idea of walking afew miles each day to get to work. But that wasn't the bad part yet.

Within a month the natural gas and coal went dry to. The power started to go out, but the flames of hatred and anger did not. They fought police and military. They mobbed government officials trying to rip them apart for a solution to the problem. They said nuclear power. Then they saw how handicapped we really were without our precious gasoline. We couldn't get any more uranium.

So our final light bulb flickered and died. That night they were replaced by the light of an entire city burning before my eyes. Then the savages showed themselves. They killed for what they needed and killed so there would be more food for them. I was lucky enough to get out with a group. An old sniper, a nurse, and me with my old revolver. But they all fell eventually.

It was a very sad day for me. I buried my only two friends, so now I'm all alone. In a world that I helped create. We all could have prevented this world you know. We could have listened to there advice and tried to find an alternative for the fuels that we knew we were going to run out of. But we just became lazier and lazier. So we didn't and now I'm looking at the ashes of my once wonderful city. So my question is could you change my fate? Please try to change my fate.
