Horatio watched Speed as he made his way down the back stairs and out into the parking lot. Wally's suicide had affected him in a way that Horatio didn't think it could have. Speed's nature, his way with people, wasn't nurturing. Horatio thought that that was something outside of the young man's persona. Apparently he was wrong. In the short time they had known each other, he had developed a rapport with Wally. And Horatio had been too busy to notice.

He watched Speed as he stood next to his bike for a moment and lit a cigarette. Horatio wished there was something he could say or do to make him feel better. He wanted Speed to understand that Wally was troubled and had been hiding that from Speed. He wanted him to understand that he had done something for him by befriending him. It just came a little too late and he shouldn't feel guilty about that.

Speed finished his cigarette then flicked the butt to the ground and stepped on it. Horatio sighed as he watched his young colleague mount his motorcycle and drive off. But he knew he'd be back tomorrow, ready for another day.
