It was 3:00am in Beach City, a particularly early time for Garnet to be active, but she did not really mind. In fact, she regretted not leaving her room in the Temple earlier; she needs to keep on task.
Garnet stepped down onto the foggy beach and breathed in the salty air. It was something she always appreciated, real smells, ever since she left the sterility of her Homeworld.
She turned her head and glanced one more time at the beach house, and figured, like always, all was well, and she nodded to herself, averting her attention towards testing the temperature of the water. It's not like she needed to, she could survive in even the most scourging of environments, but since Steven wanted her to do so, so she "wouldn't get a cold". Again, it's not like she is subject to human illness, but she loved Steven and chose to follow his advice regardless.
She reviewed her mission objectives as she sunk into the briny depths. This quest's purpose was to find and contain the fusion known as "Malachite". And Garnet was determined to do so, for Earth's sake.
And so, she searched for the unstable anomaly until she was sure that she couldn't be found, at least, for now.
It was light out as she finalized her search; despite being for naught, Garnet still felt satisfied, knowing she was one step closer to ensuring the safety of the people she loved and cared for.
And so, she managed to emerge from the depths below, and looked forward to Steven's usual warm welcoming back home. Of course, this was the case, and Connie was also there likewise, so Garnet was careful not to ruin the "funky flows" emanating within the two, settling with greeting the two with a casual "Howdy."
"Watcha up to, Garnet?" Steven questioned, with a more than a slight tinge of curiosity.
"I was just at the bottom of the ocean checking for signs of Lapis and Jasper."
Of course, as she expected, Steven questioned her a bit further, of course she didn't mind,
"Any luck?"
And, like always, she was eager to reply, no matter how simple her responses were:
"N-ope!"
In addition, there was the mailman—(Jamie was it?) looking at her with a dumfounded look in his eyes,
"Woah, how are you able to swim to the bottom of the ocean?" he questioned, still maintaining his shock at her presence.
Garnet wanted to chuckle at his ignorance, he was human of course, and she understood that he couldn't comprehend her goals, her abilities even, but she threw him a bone anyways,
"It was easy, I'm a really…good… swimmer…" she explained, simple enough so a mortal like himself could see it as coherent.
He stared at her still, in what she assumed was also caused by lingering confusion, so instead of explaining further, she excused herself and went back inside, prepping herself for the next mission.
