A/N: This is my first ever thing that I've written voluntarily. Therefore it goes without saying that it is my first attempt at fanfiction as well. I've never been good at writing. The only thing writing related I was ever good at was grammar (I know, for someone who's here that's kind of weird). I hope you like it, but I would appreciate any constructive feedback I can get.
It's early January and all of the Digidestined are gathered for a reunion. Hikari goes to take a walk in the snow. She loves the snow, even if no one else does. She takes a step and suddenly, she's falling down a snow-covered slope. She stops and feels a sharp pain in her ankle. She calls for help, but with the snow muffling sounds, the others can't hear. She eventually stops calling. She begins thinking about how the others will react if she dies out there. 'They'll all be devastated' she thinks. 'I'll miss them all especially…' her thought trails off. 'Especially who?' Then, she finally admits it to herself, 'Especially Takeru. I love him.' She breaks down and starts crying.
After a while, Takeru notices Hikari isn't with the rest of them. Always being on the safe side, he grabs some rope, just in case, and goes off to look for her. Eventually, he hears soft crying. "Hikari!" he shouts.
He hears her call back "Takeru, down here. My ankle hurts."
"I'm coming!" he shouts back. Thinking quickly, he ties the rope to a nearby tree. Soon he is quickly going down the slope towards Hikari. He reached the bottom and ran straight to Hikari. "Hikari, I'm going to get you out of here. Can you walk?"
"I don't think so," she replies weakly, shivering with cold and pain. "I think my ankle might be broken."
Takeru frown worriedly. "Don't worry; I'll just have to help you out of here." With a strength born of adrenaline and worry for Hikari, Takeru hauls both of them back up the slope.
"Takeru…" she whispers but he cuts her off.
"Shh. Save your strength. Whatever it is, it can wait until you're safely in the hospital." When they get within sight of the others Takeru shouts "Someone call 911! Hikari's hurt!" When the ambulance arrives, Takeru insists on going with her. The entire way he holds her to help keep her warm. To keep her from falling asleep he whispers to her, "Shhh. It'll be ok. You just have to stay awake until we get to the hospital." 'She has to be ok.' Takeru thinks. 'I can't live without her.' He finally admits it to himself. 'I love her.'
She whisper back, "Thank you Takeru."
When they get to the hospital, the doctors tell everyone "She has a small break in her ankle, and a minor case of hypothermia, but she should be just fine."
Everyone manages a weak smile. Then Takeru speaks up. "May I see her?" he asks. When the doctor says yes, he rushes into her room and straight to her bedside. "Hikari?"
She looks at him and smiles. "Thank you for saving me Takeru."
He smiles back, fighting back tears of joy and says "Always, Hikari. I was worried I had lost you."
They stare into each other's eyes for what seem to both of them like forever. Then, at the same time they say "I love you." They look at each other, both crying now. Then, the both say "I love you too," and they kiss.
