Ianto walked through Cardiff on his way to work, the winter wind chilling him to the bone. He thought of the previous winter and his heart clenched. Images flashed behind his eyes.
Lisa and he on Christmas morning, her excited smile almost child-like. A snowball fight on the way home from work. Staying up late just talking for hours by the fire. Proposing in the snow with a promise of forever.
Ianto shook his head to clear it of the images. He had contacted Tanizaki. Lisa would be getting better soon, and then they could make new memories in Cardiff.
Ianto arrived at the tourist office and got it prepared for the day. People came to visit Cardiff around this time of year for the Christmas fair, so it was important that someone be in there during the day. After twenty minutes or so, Jack came up to greet him.
Jack
Jack would be Ianto's downfall. Ianto had considered himself perfectly straight before meeting Jack, but something about the captain had been attractive to the Welshman from the moment they had met. Whatever it was, it confused Ianto. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was in love with Lisa, but Captain Jack Harkness made him want to do things that he had never even considered before.
Ianto shook his head again. I should know who I am by now, he told himself. He wouldn't let his thoughts linger on Jack. Lisa loved him. Needed him. She would never have betrayed him, so he wasn't about to betray her. He had promised Lisa forever, and he had meant it.
