How long had it been? 'Five years.' Shion thought to himself. Certainly time had flown by over the years, but had it really been five years since the night that brought the two boys together? To Shion, September 7th was something more than his birthday. It marked the day that changed his life. Afterall, Nezumi was in truth, the best thing Shion had recieved. Even being kicked out of his paradise for helping the fugitive wouldn't change the way he felt about that. No, to him, September 7th was much more important than something so trivial. Without that day, where would those grey eyes be? Those strong arms.. The familiar sweet scent of books.. That soothing voice..

"Oi. Shion." That same lyrical, fluid voice snapped red eyes back to reality.

"Hm?" He smiled, nodding towards Nezumi with pink cheeks. "Sorry. I got a little lost in thought." Usually he was very attentive. Even while daydreaming, he could pay attention and not miss a single detail of what was being said. It came in handy back in Chronos.

"You do that too much lately. You need to learn to pay better attention." Nezumi smirked, his eyes never straying from the page of 'The Portrait of Dorian Grey.' "I was asking you what your plans were for this coming Wednesday."

Was he asking about his birthday? "E - eh. I don't really have any." Shion shrugged a bit, handing Nezumi a cup of the tea he had just finished before taking a drink himself. "Why?"

"Curious." Was his only reply. Shion bit his lip and looked to the side, trying to wait out the awkward pause that had seemed to surround them.

"Did... You have something in mind to do that day?" He swayed, trying to break the silence. He wasn't concerned at all with his birthday. All he really wanted was to spend the day with the other.

"Should I?" Another smirk formed on his lips. This time, his eyes rose from the page to stare right into Shion's own. He could feel the heat rush to his cheeks.

"N - no! I was just curious because you asked.." He'd never felt quite this helpless before. Maybe he was thinking on it too much.. Maybe he was falling.. No. It couldn't be. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts.

Nezumi chuckled, setting the book down gently on the table in front of him. "Is Wednesday something special?" The smirk never left his face as he got to his feet, and made his way towards the smaller boy.

"Well.." He paused, looking to the side as if he would find an answer. "It's the day we first met five years ago." Their eyes met once more.

"We've known each other for five years? Hmph.." He scoffed, smiling. "Five years too long."

He couldn't tell if he was joking or not. Shion frowned, his lips forming a small pout.

"It's also your birthday, right?" He sighed, running his fingers through his own dark hair. "I suppose that means you want something right?" His smirk grew, taking a step closer.

"Not really. I don't usually ask for things on my birthday.." It was true. Shion really didn't want anything from him. Nothing except maybe a little time.

"You've got something on your mind." Nezumi tilted his head, reading him far too easily.

Shion sighed, his face getting hotter by the moment. "The only thing, Nezumi..." He paused, looking for the words. "Sing for me?"

The other gave a small chuckle, reaching out to gently brush Shion's hair from his face. "I'll think about it.."
