Alex Eames was never a patient woman.

Even as a child, when big moments approached, she reacted the same way. With a deep sense of anticipation that bordered on anxiety. She didn't like to wait for anything.

In fact, she could honestly say that the only thing she had waited for that had been truly worth the wait was the man lying in bed next to her.

She turned her head and smiled at her sleeping partner. Bobby slept on his side, facing her, and his large hand was resting lightly on her waist. Yes, he had been more than worth the wait.

Reaching out, she lightly brushed her thumb against his cheek. It was well after two in the morning, but once again, her impatience was firmly taking hold. She was pregnant with their first child, and her due date came and went last week with nothing. Not even a contraction. She had waited a very long time to meet this baby, and now all she could think about was ways to induce labor. She had tried going on long walks and eating spicy foods, to no avail. If anything, the unborn child she carried enjoyed all of those tamales and hot wings.

There was only one thing she hadn't tried, mostly because her husband was reluctant to assist her in her current condition.

"You are coming out of there," she whispered to her abdomen. Tomorrow (or today, technically) Bobby was off work. So what if he missed a little sleep? With a wicked grin, Alex slowly moved closer to him. He only wore boxers while he slept, so she slid her slender hand past the waist band. Then she draped her leg over his.

Bobby groaned softly as his eyelids fluttered open. "Eames…?"

"Shh…" She lightly kissed his broad chest.

His bleary mind suddenly registered her hand in his boxers, and he propped his head up, a slight flush creeping across his cheeks.

At the look on his face, Alex tried to look innocent. "What?"

"I know what you're doing."

Sighing, she pulled her hand away and rolled onto her back. "It's the only thing we haven't tried, Bobby!"

He moved with her and suspended himself over her. "I know you're uncomfortable and swollen, and you want to see her. But she'll be here soon."

She pushed him away with a growl. "It's not just about inducing labor, Goren. We haven't had sex in weeks."

He had the decency to look guilty. "I know. But we will…"

"After the baby's born? Yeah, I'm not waiting that long." She rolled away from him and reached into her nightstand.

"Eames…"

"If you won't help, then I'll just take care of things myself." Finally she found what she was looking for, and she grabbed the battery operated device that she had barely used since he started sharing her bed.

He tried to take it out of her hands, but one angry glare made him retreat slowly.

As he withdrew, Alex turned the device on. But as she did, a gush of liquid soaked the bed. Bobby didn't notice right away, but Alex quickly set the vibrator down and sat up. "Bobby, get my bag."

His big brown eyes widened, but to his credit, he leapt out of the bed and grabbed his pants, roughly yanking them on. Then he helped his wife up. As she stood, he settled his hand over her abdomen and smiled.

Alex smirked and squeezed his hand. "I told you it would work."

"You're never wrong, Eames." He gently brushed her hair out of her eyes.

"You're damn right I'm never wrong." She kissed his cheek, then stepped around him. "Let's go have this baby."

He just smiled that sweet smile of his, the one reserved just for her.

She was never a patient woman, but lucky for her, he was a very patient man.

The End!
