A/N: This was written for the Lyric Drabble Competition II thing, and possibly some other challenges/competitions on HPFC. I know, this is a Dramione fic, but I'm being forced to write this pairing again. This may be a small collection, but I'm not sure when it'll be updated because Dramione is one of my Notp's. I can just tolerate them better than I used to... there are some good fics out there that made me tolerate them a little bit. Disclaimer: Taylor Swift owns This Love, and JK Rowling owns Harry Potter. I'm just borrowing everything here.
In silent screams, in wildest dreams, I never dreamed of this….
Hermione needed to start searching for a new roommate now that Ginny was moving in with Harry. The two had gotten engaged a few days ago, and Hermione really was happy for her friend. She just didn't like the dilemma she was in.
Ron had of course begged to be her new roommate, but Hermione had flat out refused. Their kiss had made their friendship awkward, and she wasn't taking chances by taking him on as a roommate either.
She decided to take a break from posting flyers and grab an ice cream at Borkins ice cream shop.
Hermione had just sat down when somebody sat down in the chair in front of him. She looked up and blinked in surprise when she saw it was Draco Malfoy. "Draco? What're you doing here?"
Draco rolled his eyebrows impatiently. "I think a smart girl such as yourself would be able to work this one out, Granger."
Hermione narrowed his eyes at him and she looked down at her flyers. "No," she said automatically when she figured it out.
He sighed. "Look, I know we have had our differences in the past. But I can't stay with my parents anymore. They're insufferable since the war ended, and they give me a headache."
"You mean like how you're giving me a headache now?" Hermione snapped at him.
Draco gave her a loathing look, before he sighed again. "I can pay you a high deposit now if I can get you to change your mind. I heard Weasley has been asking to be your roommate."
Hermione was still trying to wrap her mind around this situation. "Why on earth would you want to be my roommate?"
"Because we already know each other. I really have to get out of there. All of my friends are getting married, and you're better than moving in with a complete stranger. Come on, Granger. Can't we put our differences aside for this, please?"
Hermione folded her arms and sighed. She was trying to work out an argument, but she decided she couldn't stand another day of posting flyers and waiting for phone calls and for Ron to keep begging for the room.
"Fine," she retaliated.
Draco's eyes widened. "Really?"
Hermione nodded solemnly. "On one condition."
Draco faltered a little at this. "Anything," he said automatically.
"You have to promise that you won't fall in love with me."
He gave her a strange look before he started cracking up.
She gave him a furious look and smacked his head.
"Hey, don't mess up my hair! I have to look good for the mirror… and you," he joked.
"The deal is off," Hermione snapped, standing up.
Draco reached for her hand quickly and quickly put on a serious expression. "I promise I won't fall in love with you," he said quietly.
Hermione met his eyes and studied them for several long moments. She couldn't see any traces of jokes there, and sighed. "Fine, you can move in tonight. I'd like the deposit and first month's rent by tomorrow-"
"Excellent." Draco cut her off by handing her a handful of money. He bent his head down so he matched her height and grinned. "I'll see you at home…roomie." He winked at her before he headed out the door.
"Oh, I hate you," Hermione groaned, even though she knew he was out of earshot. Even in her wildest dreams, she never imagined this.
