Dear Diary,

My mom gave you to me. She says memories are to important to let slip away. I'm trying to understand what she means by that but honestly I'm sure.

Anway my name is Rosethorn Gilbert. I'm 16 years old. I live in Chicago, Illinois and I'm a vampire and elemental.

I was born this way. I'm the daughter of the doppleganger, Elena Gilbert. I drink blood and I can control the earth.

I'm expecting a lot of adventure in my life so here we go...

Rosethorn looked at her first journal entry. It was sort of vague but it was honest and it was her.

She sat on the ledge of a large french window gazing into the night as she stared at the stars. The curtains were french silky lace with a floral pattern. The window was open to the night sky and stars. Rosethorn always wondered about the sky. What would it be like to not be bound by anything? Gravity, the prophecy of the born, or most of all her mom.

Rosethorn knew her mother loved her and just wanted the best for her but sometimes she was to overprotective. In fact up until the 6th grade when Rosethorn finally took a stand her mother would insist on holding her hand and walking her to school. The two of them were close but she was also fiercly indpendent.

Sometimes she wished she could be beautiful like her mother with silky brown her, ivory skin, and doe eyes. Rosethorn's eyes were doe brown but she was a bit paler with countless freckles. Her hair my a fiery red which was a mystery even to her mother. She thought she might have inheirted it from her father but her mother told her her father was indeed not a red head. That's all she knew of him though. She inferred he mother loved her father very much based on how she looked when she mentioned her likeness to him and yet at the same time she was the same.

Then Rosethorn suprised herself by jumping out of the window. She never truly tested out her vampire strength or speed or any of her abilites because it would worry her mom too much. She landed on the grond. Her feet took in the nice grassy feel of the ground.

The yard had a large fence around it so nobody could get in or see her. She decided to practice her elemtnal abilites and took a huge boulder and lifted it using earth bending.

"Rosethorn?!" She heard her mom yell worryingly.

"Coming mom!" She yelled. Using vamp speed to go back into the large southern colonial house.

She found her mother in the living room sitting on her favorite red velvet sofa. She looked at her mother who didn't look at day older then 18 and maybe not. Though with proper makeup she could pass for 27.

"Where were you? Do you realize that is 2 AM!?" Elena yelled. Elena had the habit to be a bit overprotective and over stress a lot.

"Jeez mom I'm sorry. Can't you be less overprotective?" She asked in an annoyed voice.

"Sorry you told me you wanted to be a normal teenagers but normal teenager don't jump out their windows in the middle of the night." She said with her voice being a combonation of apologetic and angry.

"Technically speaking it's morning mother." She said in a combonation of impulsiveness and politeness.

"Okay then. Happy Birthday!" Elena countered while her mood turned more gleeful.
