Regulations Regarding Promotions and Chain of Command
101.01: Promotions of enlisted crewman shall be suggested by the section chief and ultimately by the commanding officer.
SecA: All section chiefs shall provide quarterly a list of personnel eligable for promotion.
SecB: Any section chief may recommend any crewman for promotion at any time if the crewman exhibits behavior deserving of promotion.
101.02: Promotions for non-commissioned officers will be based on recommendations of the department head based on quarterly crew evaluation reports.
101.03: Advancement from a non-commissioned officer to an officer rank shall be based on completion of an officer training program and/or referal for promotion from a Starfleet officer above the rank of Captain.
102.01: Field promotions of all officers are subject to approval by the Starfleet Director of Personell.
102.02: The permanence of a field promotion depends on the performance of the officer in question and if the position is necessary after the crisis has passed.

Flag Officer ; (Admiral or Commodore) Only on Fleet Flagships
Captain
First Officer; (Commander or Lt. Commander)
Chief Helmsman; (typically a lieutennant, but may be any rank)
Chief Navigator; (See helmsman)
Chief Science Officer; (See helmsman)
Chief Engineer; (Must be a Lt. or above.)
Chief of Security; (Lt. or above).
